This tetracycline antibiotic inhibits protein synthesis by irreversibly binding to the 30S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, blocking the formation of aminoacyl-tRNA-mRNA complexes. It exhibits concentration-dependent bactericidal effects in vivo and also shows inhibitory activity against specific pathogens such as Brucella and Theileria. Its half-life varies among different animals (approximately 10 hours for pigs, 20-34 hours for beef cattle).
It is suitable for treating the following diseases:
Livestock infections: Calf scours, foot rot in cattle and sheep, swine pasteurellosis pneumonia
Poultry diseases: Fowl cholera, chronic respiratory disease in chickens
Specific pathogens: Swine eperythrozoonosis, bovine Theileria infection
Postpartum prevention and treatment: Endometritis and mastitis in sows
